Description

My long delayed entry for :iconmlp-atg-alumni:'s week 87 theme: A Pony on the Rise/A Pony Ascending.  I've had this mostly done for some time now, and finally managed to get off my butt and finish it.

This is another picture based on a scene from #The-Lusty-Seapony-RP.  Night Flurry, the pegasus on the couch, is normally a pretty stable character, but he is a bit emotionally fragile.  So, when his beloved fiancée Dusky Down (the mare in the word bubble) took an extended vacation, the poor Flurry rapidly fell apart.  On Hearts and Hooves Day, he hit rock bottom, drinking himself into unconsciousness in the rp's namesake bar.  Fortunately for him, his drinking binge and subsequent collapse were witnessed by the empathic Nocturne Star, who decided to spend the night in the bar himself to watch over the fallen pegasus.  The next day, the two of them had a long conversation about Flurry's issues and the path his life is taking, with Flurry doing most of the talking while Nocturne primarily just listened and offered encouragement... and held the bucket when necessary. By the end of the scene, Night Flurry had decided that this was not the life for him. More importantly, he also decided that he needed to be strong for himself, instead of just trying to be strong for Dusky. With Flurry's life once again on the rise, the two ponies headed off towards Flurry's home.

Picture was hand-drawn, then vector-traced with Inkscape.

I loved this scene, and I nearly missed that you'd drawn it. I love how you've captured Night so frazzled, and Nocturne being so... Nocturne. He is always so soft spoken and supportive I half wonder why he isn't a nurse or carer. Either way, he brings a unique sense of maturity to the story and I can't wait to see more of him.
