Description
My submission for Day 7 of Equestria Daily's Newbie Artist Training Grounds II - A Pony Facing Conflict or Locked in "Grizzly" Combat. Phoe points out in her post on ED that we're not to get gory; she didn't want to see an "ocean of blood", unless its a landmark. Originally, I was going to do just that; showing a pair of ponies visiting a literal Ocean of Blood, and arguing over their choice of vacation spots. But then I realized that Fallout 3, and by extension Fallout: Equestria, contains mutant irradiated bears called Yao Guai, and I had to go with that.
So, here we have a trio of wasteland scavengers who, upon approaching an abandoned ruin, discover that it wasn't as 'abandoned' as they had thought. Faced with the prospect of a literal grizzly combat against the massive mutant, the wastelanders decide to approach this conflict with the time-tested strategy of "get the hell outta Dodge!"
I think this picture came out pretty well for two hours worth of work, which includes time looking for certain images to use as references! I'm actually surprised that I created it that quickly; it would appear that I am indeed learning how to draw ponies. It does have some issues: the bottom pony should be larger (due to being closer to the viewer than the others), there should be rubble around the ruined house, and I had planned on making the Yao Guai bigger than that as well. But I'm still pleased overall.
Style Experimentation: Nothing new here. It seemed pointless given how tiny the ponies are.
Credit goes to and for creating MLP:FiM.
Special thanks to Phoe for going through the effort to run this massive event.
I've seen someone else doing this (I forget who), so I'm gonna do it too!
NATGII events participated in: 4 (out of 7)
Individual ponies drawn: 7

Sketches for the win! Perfect for focusing on expressing an idea with minimalist design (thats my excuse and I'm sticking with it. Blasted time constraints.)
Everything draws my eye to that shattered window, really nice detail thar.
Now I've seen this I feel like drawing somepony in a head down gallop...
A wild Yao Guai appears! Scavengers use "KThxBai"
